Diamanda Galas Announces Rare U.S. Tour Dates

Avant-garde vocalist Diamanda Galás will support her two upcoming LPsAll the Way and At Saint Thomas the Apostle Harlem – with a six-date tour that marks her first U.S. shows outside of New York in years.

Galás will perform selections from her two new albums, her first since 2008’s Guilty Guilty Guilty, during the trek, which kicks off March 31st at Seattle’s Neptune. The tour will also hit Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans and Austin before concluding April 17th at Chicago’s Thalia Hall.

All the Way, which features Galás’ interpretation of jazz, blues and folk standards, and At Saint Thomas the Apostle Harlem, a live document of her performance of “death songs” from May 2016 concerts in Harlem, are both due out March 24th. Visit Galás’ website for ticket information.

In January, Rolling Stone debuted a pair of tracks from Galás’ upcoming releases, including her emotional rendition of the nearly century-old folk song “O Death.” “When I finished that performance, there was blood all over the keyboard,” Galás said of the performance. “I couldn’t imagine why. What I had done is I had broken my nails, all of them, when I was playing. And I never enjoyed a performance so much in my life.”
