Just Blaze, Jadakiss Highlight Non-Music Jobs in New 'Side Hustle' Series

Tidal has launched a new video series called Side Hustle, which will air bi-weekly. Hosted by Tidal’s culture and content editor Adelle Platon, the first three episodes feature Just Blaze, Jadakiss and Holy Ghost.

As the show’s title suggests, the series will highlight artists’ businesses outside of their music careers.

“Artists across genres stay hustling, from running restaurants to capitalizing on their passions,” Platon says in a clip introducing the show. “These musical MVPs are not only making more dough, but turning into full-fledged entrepreneurs.”

The first episode is available now and spotlights Just Blaze. While the producer is known for his work with A-list artists such as Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and dozens of others, he also co-owns Ani Ramen House restaurant in New Jersey with Luck Sarabhayavanija, which opened in April. Throughout the episode, the producer discusses being a restaurateur and emphasizes how they strive to deliver a distinctive dining experience, and also correlates how he applies the knowledge he’s gained from his music career to running his restaurant operation.

Future episodes include Holy Ghost’s Alex Frankel, who co-owns Frankel’s Delicatessen in Brooklyn and Jadakiss, who co-owns juice bar Juices for Life with Styles P, which currently has three locations in New York. Holy Ghost’s episode is tentatively scheduled for October 10th, while Jadakiss’ show is tentatively scheduled for October 24th.

The annual benefit concert will raise funds for disaster relief and recovery organizations in the devastating aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. It will also benefit victims of the earthquake in Mexico, which has killed more than 300 people to date. The concert will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on October 17th.

The lineup also includes Kaskade, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Daddy Yankee, Yo Gotti, A$AP Ferg, Vic Mensa, Fifth Harmony, Joey Bada$$, Willow Smith, Belly, Iggy Azalea and Jessie Reyez, among others.

Beyoncé does not currently appear in Tidal’s officially announced lineup, though it mentions that more artists will be added.

In addition to the musical performances, radio personality Angie Martinez will serve as host and Rosie Perez and Lin-Manuel Miranda will make special appearances during the event.

One hundred percent of the ticket proceeds will be donated to recovery and relief organizations in regions affected by hurricanes and flooding, including areas in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. The Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort for Puerto Rico, Global Giving, All Hands Volunteers, Kids in Need Foundation, Direct Relief, One America Appeal, Greater Houston Community Foundation, American Civil Liberties Union, Miami Community Foundation and Habitat for Humanity in Puerto Rico are among the beneficiaries. Presenting sponsor Bacardi Rum has committed $1.3 million to the Tidal X: Brooklyn charities.

Bob Marley's Sons, Jim James, Tom Morello Lead All-Star 'Exodus' Concert

Bob Marley‘s family will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the reggae legend’s Exodus with an all-star Los Angeles concert featuring Jim James, Tom Morello, Gary Clark Jr. and Marley’s sons Ziggy and Stephen.

Citizen Cope, Aloe Blacc, Cyril Neville and more artists will also take part in the Exodus 40 Live event, scheduled for November 1st at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater.

The Exodus 40 Live concert follows Ziggy Marley’s “restatement” reissue of his father’s LP, dubbed Exodus 40: The Movement Continues, which featured lead vocal outtakes, ad-libs and more from Marley and the Wailers’ Exodus recording sessions.

“After listening to Ziggy’s restatement of Exodus 40: The Movement Continues, the album struck me as something so powerful and rarely seen live in its entirety,” music director Don Was said in a statement. “I am thrilled to be a part of this show with Ziggy and Stephen, and perform these songs for the fans.”

Exodus, Marley’s ninth studio LP, featured the singer’s legendary singles “Jamming,” “Three Little Birds” and “One Love.” Marley recorded the album during his exile in London, the result of an assassination attempt on the reggae singer in his native Jamaica.

Tickets for Exodus 40 Live go on sale September 29th at Ticketmaster. Additional participating artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

Watch Katy Perry Sob During Therapy Session in YouTube Red Special Trailer

Katy Perry sobs during a therapy session in a preview of her upcoming YouTube Red special, Will You Be My Witness?, out October 4th. The feature-length project includes previously unseen content from the singer’s 96-hour June livestream promoting her fifth LP, Witness.

In one memorable scene, the recent VMAs host breaks down in tears while recounting how a desire to become her pre-fame self inspired her to cut and dye her hair. “I so badly wanted to be Kathryn Hudson that I didn’t want to look like Katy Perry anymore,” she says.

The special will feature behind-the-scenes footage from the livestream – from Perry conceptualizing the premise to her subsequent reflections after the event. The four-day YouTube stream – which featured 31 cameras charting the singer’s every move at her “Witness World Wide Headquarters” – wound up drawing over 50 million views in over 190 countries.

Celebrities like James Corden, Sia, Caitlyn Jenner, Gordon Ramsay, Anna Kendrick and America Ferrera dropped by the house to engage in conversations with Perry about politics, spirituality, gender and politics.

Perry kicks off the clip by explaining her rationale for the entire livestream. “To kick off the release of my new album, Witness, I knew I wanted to do something really different,” she says. “Something big, something that’s never been done before. And then this wild idea hit me.”

Watch Paul McCartney, Billy Joel Play Beatles' 'Birthday,' 'Get Back'

Paul McCartney enlisted Billy Joel to perform a pair of Beatles classics, Let It Be‘s “Get Back” and The White Album‘s “Birthday,” during his Tuesday concert at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

Joel joined McCartney’s band at centerstage for “Get Back,” occupying the Billy Preston role with his bluesy electric piano solo. The singer-songwriter stuck around behind the keys for a rousing take on “Birthday,” which McCartney dedicated to “anybody who’s got a birthday – and also anybody who’s got a birthday any time this year.”

McCartney will continue his long-running “One on One” tour Wednesday, September 27th, with a second show at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum before closing out his U.S. run with a pair of Detroit dates on October 1st and 2nd.

Joel and McCartney have crossed paths numerous times onstage over the years, both in person and in song. Joel covered the Beatles’ “A Day in the Life” twice this summer; the former Beatle joined Joel to in July 2008 to perform the band’s early tune “I Saw Her Standing There” during Joel’s final run at New York’s Shea Stadium, and Joel returned the favor three years later with a surprise appearance at McCartney’s Yankee Stadium show.
