Germany's Rock am Ring Festival Evacuated After Terror Threat

The Rock am Ring Festival in Nuerburg, Germany was evacuated Friday following a terror threat at the festival grounds.

“Due to a terrorist threat the police have advised us to interrupt the festival,” organizers said in a statement. “We ask all festival visitors to leave the festival in a calm and controlled manner towards the exits and camping grounds. We have to support the police investigations.”

Even though security presence at the festival was increased to 1,200 officers following the terror attack on an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, Rock am Ring was evacuated following “concrete evidence of a possible terror threat,” police said in a statement (via CNN).

Liam Gallagher and Rammstein were among the artists scheduled to perform Friday.

According to the Daily Star, after organizer Marek Lieberberg appeared onstage to tell festivalgoers they must evacuate due to the terror threat, attendees started chanting “terror is shit, shalalala” and singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” as the crowd of 85,000 people headed toward the exits. Bomb-sniffing dogs were also spotted on scene.

In a follow-up statement, Rock am Ring organizers were hopeful that the festival would resume as scheduled on Saturday.

“The organizers of Rock am Ring and the police are working nightshifts to take all necessary measures to guarantee a safe festival. More detailed information will be announced tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the press conference of the Ministry of the Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate,” organizers said.

“We will inform you as soon as we have confirmed information about the possible continuation of the festival. Unfortunately we have to rely on external sources for these information. We all hope to rock on together tomorrow.”

Chris Cornell Autopsy Report: 'Drugs Did Not Contribute' to Death

Michigan’s Wayne County Medical Examiner released the autopsy and toxicology report in the death of Chris Cornell Friday, with the coroner confirming that the manner of death was suicide and that “drugs did not contribute to the cause of death.”

“It is my opinion that death was caused by hanging,” Wayne County assistant medical examiner Theodore Brown wrote in his post mortem report in documents obtained by Rolling Stone. “Based on the circumstances surrounding this death and the autopsy findings, the manner of death is suicide.”

The medical examiner then reiterated the circumstances of Cornell’s death as found in the police report, which stated that Cornell was “found partially suspended by a resistance exercise band in his hotel room.”

The injuries sustained “were all consistent with hanging, partially suspended by the resistance exercise band.”

Additionally, seven different drugs were found in Cornell’s post mortem toxicology report, including a significant dose of the anxiety medicine Ativan. However, it is the medical examiner’s opinion that “these drugs did not contribute to the cause of death.”

The drugs found in Cornell’s system were “butalbital, lorazepam, pseudoephedrine and its metabolite norpseudoephedrine, caffeine, and naloxone.” The caffeine came from No-Doz tablets the singer ingested prior to his death, while the pseudoephedrine was employed as a decongestant.

Other prescription drugs included the sedative Butalbital, Narcan (“a narcotic antagonist”) and four doses of Lorazepam, which is known as the anxiety medication Ativan.

The Cornell family has previously blamed the rare side effects of Ativan – which includes suicidal thoughts – for catalyzing the singer’s death. However, the medical examiner noted that while the 200 ng/mL level of Ativan in Cornell’s blood was well higher than the average 30-50 ng/mL dosage, it was also lower than the 300 ng/mL Ativan blood levels of those whose death are tied to the drug.

Following the release of the autopsy and toxicology report, Cornell’s widow Vicki released a statement to Rolling Stone.

“Many of us who know Chris well noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system. After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgment seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind,” Vicky Cornell wrote.

“Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back. We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy.”

Watch Liam Payne, Quavo Dance Alone in Sleek 'Strip That Down' Video

Liam Payne rocks gently in what appears to be the inside of tanning bed in the video for “Strip That Down.” Migos’ Quavo and a visor-clad dancer join the former One Direction singer in the sleek, colorful clip from his forthcoming solo album.

Fellow British pop star Ed Sheeran co-wrote the summer club banger. The “Shape of You” singer isn’t shy about his penchant for hard liquor, which would explain all the “coke and Bacardis” mentioned in “Strip That Down.”

Payne has yet to announce a title or release date for his upcoming debut solo LP. In a statement about “Strip That Down,” the singer said he’s been “working hard in the studio for over a year” on new material. “I’ve come a long way since our One Direction debut, and I hope everyone likes my new sound as much as I do,” he said. “2017 has been a big year for me already, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of it will bring.”

Since One Direction announced their hiatus in August 2015, each member has pursued a solo career. In 2016, Louis Tomlinson teamed with DJ Steve Aoki for debut single “Just Hold On,” (which he followed this month with “Slow Hands”) and Niall Horan issued his first standalone cut, “This Town.” Harry Styles released his debut solo LP in May.
