Bruce Springsteen's Archives Release Rarities-Filled 2008 St. Louis Show

Bruce Springsteen has unleashed his first archival live release of the year, with the rocker focusing on a rarities-filled St. Louis gig from 2008.

The August 23rd, 2008 concert, recorded in the midst of the E Street Band’s tour in support of Magic, featured Springsteen and company performing some songs for the first time in decades thanks to sign requests in the audience.

These include the band’s renditions of the Crystals’ “Then He Kissed Me” and Harold Dorman’s “Mountain of Love,” which hadn’t been performed by Springsteen and the E Street Band since 1975.

Springsteen also delivered his seldom-performed cover of Chuck Berry‘s “Little Queenie” in the encore; the St. Louis gig in 2008 marked the first time since 2002 that Springsteen played that track live, as well as the last time the E Street Band has whipped it out in concert. Check out Springsteen’s live archive site for full track list and download information. Physical copies of Scottrade Center, St. Louis, 8/23/08 will ship May 1st.

In November, the Springsteen archives dug up a Buffalo 2009 concert that featured a full album performance of Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. as well as the last time saxophonist Clarence Clemons played with the E Street Band before his June 2011 death. 2016 also saw the first official release of Springsteen’s famed “Christic Shows,” a pair of solo concerts recorded in Los Angeles in November 1990.

See Billy Joel Sing 'New York State of Mind' With Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey joined Billy Joel onstage Friday night to duet on “New York State of Mind” during Joel’s monthly Madison Square Garden show.

After Joel handled the song’s first verse, the House of Cards actor ambled onstage without any fanfare before the singer gave Spacey a brief introduction. Without missing a note, the song continued with Spacey tackling the second verse.

Over the track’s six-minute runtime, Joel and Spacey continued to trade lines. Although Spacey captured the moment with an onstage selfie with Joel, the actor hasn’t posted that photo on any of his popular social media accounts.

This wasn’t the first time Joel and Spacey have performed together onstage: In November 2014, when Joel was honored with the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, Spacey played “Piano Man” alongside Joel, with the actor even showcasing his harmonica chops.

Joel’s latest MSG concert also featured a brief tribute to J. Geils, who died earlier in the week, with a snippet of “Centerfold” that was performed in the middle of “River of Dreams.”

Joel’s recent concerts have featured a wellspring of surprise guests, including an onstage King of Queens reunion between Kevin James and Leah Remini during “She’s Got a Way” and a Joan Jett guest spot at Joel’s Nassau Coliseum reopening concert earlier this month. At Joel’s MSG show in March, the Young Rascals and John Mellencamp joined the singer.

Watch Lorde Debut New Song 'Sober' at Tiny Pre-Coachella Gig

Lorde debuted a new Melodrama track titled “Sober” at the singer’s surprise pre-Coachella gig Friday night, her first full concert in nearly three years.

On Friday, Lorde tweeted that she would play Pioneertown, California’s Pappy & Harriet – where Paul McCartney similarly staged a between-Desert Trips show in October 2016 – for 300 fans at her first full-length gig since July 2014.

“$20 tickets because I’m 20 and because I love you. Let’s get raucous before Coachella on Sunday night,” the singer tweeted before adding just minutes later, “Um holy shit you guys just sold that out.”

Lorde’s 10-song warm-up show leaned heavily on her Pure Heroine material, including hits “Royals” and “Team,” her “Magnets” collaboration with Disclosure and three songs from the upcoming Melodrama, “Sober,” “Green Light” and “Liability,” which Lorde previously premiered on Saturday Night Live.

Following Coachella, Lorde has also lined up slots at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Governors Ball and the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Melodrama is due out June 16th.
