Britney Spears Announces Final 'Piece of Me' Las Vegas Residency Shows

Britney Spears announced Monday that her four-year Piece of Me residency at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood will conclude at the end of the year.

“As I prepare to say goodbye to ‘Piece of Me,’ I had no idea how magical this experience would be,” Spears said in a statement. “Having my fans from around the world come see my show has been amazing. I love Las Vegas and will miss performing this show.”

The singer tweeted of the last Piece of Me shows “ever,” “Saying goodbye to this show is going to be SO hard.”

Tickets for the final 18 performances at the resort’s Axis venue will go on sale to the public Friday. Spears’ last Piece of Me show will take place December 31st.

The most recent leg of Piece of Me concluded Saturday night, with another nine shows scheduled between May 3rd to the 20th. Following a tour of Israel and Asia, Spears will return to the Axis for 13 more shows spread across August and September before the final 18 shows.

Since its debut in December 2013, Britney: Piece of Me has become one of the Strip’s most successful shows with nearly 250 performances over the course of Spears’ four-year contract with Caesars Entertainment, who own the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph recently hinted that the singer might pursue other opportunities when her Caesars contract expired, including potentially setting up another Vegas residency at a different venue.

The show “could be conceivably anywhere, we could have it at the needle on the top of the Stratosphere, and do the bungee jump afterward,” Rudolph joked to the Las Vegas Review-Journal before adding, “We expect a lot of interest from all parties. Britney basically sells out every show, and she loves Las Vegas, she loves performing in Vegas, and Vegas is a possibility going forward.”

It might be a little while before Spears stages another residency, however, as the singer might first take a break, go on tour, and record the follow-up to 2016’s Glory, Rudolph said.

Danger Doom Drop 'Mad Nice' From 'Mouse & the Mask' Reissue

Danger Doom, a collaboration between producer Danger Mouse and rapper MF Doom, will reissue their one-off 2005 LP The Mouse & The Mask with a pair of unreleased tracks, including the just-unveiled “Mad Nice,” featuring the Roots’ Black Thought.

Built on a looping, swirling piano melody and horror star Vincent Price’s unmistakable laugh, the two rappers flex their lyrical muscles on the unearthed track from the Adult Swim-inspired project.

“Straight and narrow as the flight of the sparrow,” Doom rhymes. “Seat up in a beat-up Camaro / How you supposed to shoot for the moon with one arrow?”

The Mouse & The Mask reissue arrives May 5th and is available to pre-order now through Doom’s own Metalface Records.

In addition to the 14-track LP – which featured guests Ghostface Killah, Talib Kweli and Cee Lo Green as well as Cartoon Network stalwarts – and two unreleased tracks, the deluxe 3LP reissue will also boast the previously digital-only Occult Hymn EP, a 2006 7-track companion release that will be presented “with high-quality audio for the first time ever.”

Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Bjork Contribute to Planned Parenthood Box Set

Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Björk, St. Vincent, Sleater-Kinney, John Legend, Feist, Mary J. Blige and other notable musicians, comedians and spoken word artists will contribute new or rare/unreleased material to a project benefiting Planned Parenthood. The tracks will be released digitally in the coming weeks, followed by a compilation seven-inch vinyl box set.

In a hilarious promotional clip, Legend and St. Vincent’s Annie Clark croon Minnie Riperton’s timeless ballad “Lovin’ You” behind the piano. But Galifianakis, playing an irate producer, interrupts their soulful duet with some delusional “notes.” Other contributors include Common, Zach Galifianakis, Elliott Smith, Sarah Silverman, Laurie Anderson, Sharon Van Etten, Chvrches (with a visual directed by Kristen Stewart), Jon Brion and Aparna Nancherla.

“Being sexy matters. Looking good, getting clicks,” he tells the duo. The comedian suggests changing the vocal octave and alternating the song’s iconic “la”s, adds some discordant accordion and pleads with the singers to replace falsetto with “true-setto.”

“Lawmakers with extreme views are working hard to shut down Planned Parenthood,” explained the creative team behind 7-inches for Planned Parenthood. “If they succeed, millions of Americans will lose access to basic health services, including STD testing and treatment, birth control, and life-saving cancer screenings. 7-inches for Planned Parenthood is a response to this threat.”

Planned Parenthood will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from both streams and sales of the box set. The 7-inches team urges supporters to visit the I Stand With PP website to “find ways to get involved locally, contact their Senator and urge them to stand with Planned Parenthood, show their support for Planned Parenthood on social media using the hashtag #IStandWithPP and share how Planned Parenthood has helped you.”

Metallica Bassist Robert Trujillo's 12-Year-Old Son Joins Korn on Tour

Korn have recruited Tye Trujillo, the 12-year-old son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, to play bass for the band on their upcoming South American tour.

Korn’s longtime bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu had to ditch the trek due to “unforeseen circumstances,” Korn announced on Facebook, but he’ll rejoin the group in time for their North American tour in May.

“We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye,” Korn added.

Korn’s six-date South American tour kicks off April 17th in Bogota, Colombia and concludes April 27th in Santiago, Chile.

Since the age of eight, Tye Trujillo has been a member of the Helmets, a rock group that has performed at festivals like BottleRock, Lollapalooza Chile and Lollapalooza’s Kidsapalooza stage.

Watch the younger Trujillo show off his skills on Black Sabbath’s “N.I.B.” in the video below:

Hear Pwr Bttm Explore Insecurity on Biting New Song 'LOL'

Pwr Bttm explore identity and insecurity on the moving, bombastic new song “LOL.” The track will appear on the duo’s forthcoming album Pageant, out on May 12th via Polyvinyl.

The tender song has Ben Hopkins taking the vocal lead above pulsating drums, sparse guitars and backing vocals provided by Hopkins’ mother that build up to a climactic, cathartic end. “When you are queer, you are always 19,” he sings towards the song’s end.

The New York based duo consists of Hopkins and Liv Bruce, with the pair trading off vocal, guitar and drum duties on each song. They released their debut full-length, Ugly Cherries, in 2015. Pwr Bttm announced Pageant earlier this year with the empowering “Big Beautiful Day” and most recently debuted the hilarious, assertive “Answer My Text” last month. They are currently touring Europe and will launch a North American tour in support of their LP in May.
