Georgia Senate Honors 'Outstanding Ambassador' Killer Mike

The Georgia Senate honored Run the Jewels rapper Killer Mike for being an “outstanding ambassador” to the city of Atlanta as well as his role in improving the city’s water infrastructure.

The rapper also delivered a speech at the state capitol where he discussed education, housing and other ways to improve Atlanta, WABE reports.

“Our children deserve decent housing. Gentrification should not make children poor,” Killer Mike told state senators. “Our school systems deserve more attention. Our teachers deserve more money. Our firemen deserve more money. And our policemen deserve more than new guns. They deserve to have enough cops on the street to be involved in the community.”

The Georgia Senate’s honor comes after the rapper lent his moniker to “Driller Mike,” the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management’s custom-made drill that helped build an emergency backup water system in the city.

In State Resolution 315, the Georgia Senate recognized the contributions of both Killer Mike and Driller Mike.

“Michael Render has used his platform as a Grammy-winning rapper to help bring the value of water to mainstream audiences,” the resolution stated. “He has been quoted as saying, ‘I don’t ever want to cry for Atlanta like I’ve cried 14 for places like Flint. Water is a right that people deserve. This is an equitable distribution 15 of water. I drink it out of the tap, so that matters to me. I’m proud of Atlanta because we will 16 always talk from a place of power.'”

Following his speech, Killer Mike, who boasted about wearing his chain to the session, posted about the experience on Instagram, and also shared a local news story about his day at the state capitol.

The rapper, who campaigned on behalf of Bernie Sanders in 2016, promised he’ll continue to be politically active, with the rapper pledging to back state senator Vincent Fort’s bid for Atlanta mayor.

Pitbull, J Balvin and Camila Cabello have teamed up for the summer-ready dance song “Hey Ma.” The single appears on the soundtrack for The Fate of the Furious.

Filmed in Miami, the trio is seen in various colorful scenes dancing and flirting with the cast of the clip. The catchy, Spanish-language song has Balvin and Cabello trading off chorus duties in between solo verses from all three contributors.

The soundtrack also features music from Jeremih, Young Thug, G-Eazy, Kehlani, Migos and Lil Yachty, and it will be released on the same day as the film, April 14th. Watch Insane Clown Posse's Creepy Christina Aguilera Cover

Insane Clown Posse add their bizarre touch to Christina Aguilera‘s self-love ballad “Beautiful” in a new video for their 2012 track “Beautiful (Indestructible).” Violent J mugs for the camera, speak-singing profane versions of the lyrics (“Deep inside, I get insecure/ From all the pain; shit’s so lame”) over a hip-hop beat. Shaggy 2 Dope jumps in for a rapped verse, occasionally shouting “Fuck off” while a clown dances in the snow.

In October, Violent J penned an op-ed reflecting on the disturbing wave of “killer clown” sightings across the U.S. last year. The vocalist also spoke up on behalf of ICP’s dedicated Juggalo fanbase, noting they’ve been “targeted, profiled and blatantly discriminated on by law enforcement agencies across America” and placed on the FBI’s list of organized gangs.

On September 16th, Insane Clown Posse and Juggles will march on Washington D.C. to protest the gang designation. The group will also stage a free concert for fans that weekend in nearby Bristow, Virginia.

Hear Bob Dylan's Majestic Rendition of Classic 'Stardust'

Bob Dylan‘s journey into the Great American Songbook continues with “Stardust,” the oft-covered Hoagy Carmichael classic that Dylan recorded for his upcoming triple-LP Triplicate.

The 90-year-old song has been recorded over a thousand times, including memorable renditions by Willie Nelson (who showcased the tune on Stardust, his own 1978 collection of standards), Frank Sinatra, Ringo Starr, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane and Rod Stewart.

Dylan’s approach finds a pleasing, country-tinged arrangement somewhere between the orchestral bombast of Sinatra’s version and the folky simplicity of Nelson’s hit rendition.

“Stardust” features on Triplicate‘s third disc, Comin’ Home Late; each LP features 10 songs that are connected thematically, with the other discs being And the Sun Goes Down and Devil Dolls. Triplicate arrives March 31st. Dylan previously unveiled the album’s “My One and Only Love” and “I Could Have Told You.”

“I am finding these great songs to be a tremendous source of inspiration that has led me to one of my most satisfying periods in the studio,” Dylan previously said of his new album, which follows his Sinatra covers LPs Shadows in the Night and Fallen Angels. “I’ve hit upon new ways to uncover and interpret these songs that are right in line with the best recordings of my own songs, and my band and I really seemed to hit our stride on every level with Triplicate.”

Hear Rick Ross' Bustling New Song 'Trap Trap Trap' With Young Thug, Wale

Days after Rick Ross detailed his new LP Better You Than Me, the rapper dropped “Trap Trap Trap,” featuring Young Thug and Wale. “Trap Trap Trap” follows recent Ross singles “Summer 17” and “I Think She Like Me.”

“I’m the wrong one to rob/ In the jungle I’m Nas/ In the label I’m Russ/ In the trap I’m Rick Ross,” the rapper says on the bustling track, with Young Thug and Ross’ Maybach protégé Wale also bringing spirited verses to “Trap Trap Trap.”

Ross announced his new album Rather You Than Me earlier this week with some help from Martha Stewart, who revealed that the album would arrive March 17th. The LP features guests like Future, Nas, Meek Mill, Chris Rock, Gucci Mane, Raphael Saadiq, Ty Dolla $ign and Young Jeezy.

“I hope y’all feel this. Listen to the message, relate to the story, feel the pain and struggle in these lyrics – but more importantly, understand that there is a greater life on the other side of the nightmares,” the rapper in an open letter about the new album. “It’s all for a purpose. It’s all for the better. I’m living proof. Boss shit!”
