Leonard Cohen Releases Five Songs From New Live Album

With the arrival of Leonard Cohen‘s new album, Can’t Forget: A Souvenir of the Grand Tour, the iconic singer has posted five tracks from the LP to his official Vevo page. Listen to the previously unreleased Cohen original “Got A Little Secret” above.

Can’t Forget: A Souvenir of the Grand Tour was recorded at soundchecks and concerts on the 2012 and 2013 legs of the Old Ideas world tour. Some of the tracks are brand new originals, while others are either covers or live rarities from Cohen’s back catalog. It’s the fourth live album to come out from Cohen’s successful series of comeback tours that began in the summer of 2008 and lasted through late 2013.

Of the five newly released tracks, “Got A Little Secret” is the only new original. “Field Commander Cohen,” “Light As The Breeze,” and “Night Comes On” are all live rarities from Cohen’s back catalog. The final track, “Stages,” is a funny spoken-word bit about the “various stages that a man goes through in relation to his allure to the opposite sex” that he performed during the introduction to “Tower of Song.”

Cohen turned 80 last September, right around the time he released his new studio album Popular Problems. He hasn’t performed in public since the Old Ideas World Tour wrapped up in Auckland New Zealand on December 21st, 2013.
